FCBC is facilitating a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) Seminar in Fresno on March 21 to 23 in collaboration with the Fresno County Department of Public Health, CalFresh Healthy Living Program, with some financial support from the Fresno Council of Governments.  The seminar will be held at the Water, Energy and Technology (WET) Center at Fresno State.  The LCI Seminar teaches participants to become teachers of Smart Cycling classes with about 24 hours of instruction.  Upon completion, the new LCIs will be able to confidently teach and demonstrate bicycle safety and skills for bike riders of all ages.

The LCI Seminar will be taught by LCI Coach Jim Baross, President of the California Association of Bicycle Organizations (CABO) and Board Member of the League of American Bicyclists (LAB).  On Friday March 21, the session will go from approximately 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  The Saturday session will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.  The Sunday session will be from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

A prerequisite is completion of a Smart Cycling class, which has two sessions consisting of a four-hour virtual classroom session and an on-bike session that will include parking lot drills and a group ride.  The virtual session has been scheduled for February 24 (register here), and a recording will be made available for those unable to attend at that time, and there is also an online option at https://learn.bikeleague.org/p/smartcycling.  Two on-bike sessions have been scheduled, on Wednesday, February 26 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in Downtown Fresno (register here) and on March 2 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the WET Center at Fresno State (register here).
